Purnota learned about pediatric oncology and nutrition from experts and established Cuddles Foundation, a nonprofit organization, to help fight childhood cancer with nutritious food. Cuddles has a team of 40+ clinical nutritionists working with 35 government and charity cancer hospitals in 12 states.
Purnota believes that most childhood cancers are curable but malnutrition makes fighting it tougher. Proper nourishment for cancer patients is a step towards winning this battle. Food heals! In the same light, they've nourished thousands of children by giving them the right nutritional counseling and food to supplement their cancer treatment.
Additionally, in 2018 they also developed their android app called the FoodHeals App to help their nutritionists effectively counsel pediatric patients and their caregivers and track patient progress. The results of Purnota and her team's indomitable spirit can be seen as the survival rates in well-nourished children are improving. Through her consistent efforts, Cuddles was honored by the President of India with the National Award for Child Welfare.
The NGO also received the Outlook Poshan Special Jury Mention in 2019 and Akshaya Patra and UN Global Compact award for its nutrition solutions in tackling India’s malnutrition problem in 2018. Purnota is recognized for her resilience and determination to fight cancer.
